Those of you that have attended the Southeast District meetings in the past will recognize the name Levi Lyle. He spoke to our group a few years ago about Aronia berries. On December 5th he will be joining us again to share information on organic farming.
Levi has written a book “So God Made a Farmer”, A Retrospective on the Living Words of Paul Harvey By an Organic Farmer. He also has another book, Ice Sage, Living and Loving the Land Poems, due out very soon.
Levi has been an organic inspector and now consults on the topic of organic transition. He has been a local leader in conservation no-till farming using cover crops along with the practice of roller-crimping to armor the soil and sequester carbon. He is passionate about growing and marketing specialty fruit crops such as Aronia berries and tart cherries
through a business he calls Levi’s Indigenous Fruit Enterprises.
Our meeting is sponsored by Port Industries, Inc. of Palmyra, MO and Precision Intakes of Monroe, IA. Please feel free to contact or with your machine needs.
Please join us at Eagles Nest located at 225 Highway 1 West in Iowa
City beginning at 3 pm. After Levi’s presentation and our business
meeting a catered meal will be served. ■
